Machuca Commons
Some efforts are meant to be a gift. Machuca Commons is the name we give to them: gifts to the Machuca community, to San Mateo and Maderal, and to the local communities nearby. This app is one of them.
What this app is for
Its purpose is to give the community a central place, outside of WhatsApp, and to create the best possible experience for each kind of activity that happens here.
Supporting local efforts
In doing so, it tries to be welcoming, inviting and supportive of local efforts: food producers, event organizers, and everyone else who makes things happen around here.
We hope that, in the best way we can, it gives back to the economic regeneration of the area.
Built together
Over time, we hope this evolves into an inclusive, collaborative effort, one where different people across the communities can give their own gifts to these common causes.
Why “Machuca”
It’s named after the Machuca River, a vital part of every community in the area. It is something we protect and respect, and something that fills us with awe whenever we walk through it.
It is always a reminder to return to what we’ve been given, and to give back.
Bienes Comunes de Machuca
Algunos esfuerzos nacen para ser un regalo. Bienes Comunes de Machuca es el nombre que les damos: regalos para la comunidad de Machuca, para San Mateo y Maderal, y para las comunidades locales vecinas. Esta app es uno de ellos.
Para qué es esta app
Su propósito es darle a la comunidad un lugar central, fuera de WhatsApp, y crear la mejor experiencia posible para cada tipo de actividad que sucede aquí.
Apoyar lo local
Al hacerlo, busca ser acogedora, invitar a participar y apoyar los esfuerzos locales: productores de alimentos, organizadores de eventos y todas las personas que hacen que las cosas pasen por aquí.
Esperamos, de la mejor manera posible, contribuir a la regeneración económica de la zona.
Entre todos
Con el tiempo, esperamos que esto se convierta en un esfuerzo inclusivo y colaborativo, en el que distintas personas de las comunidades puedan aportar sus propios dones a estas causas comunes.
Por qué “Machuca”
Se llama así por el río Machuca, un elemento muy importante para todas las comunidades de la zona. Lo protegemos, lo respetamos, y cada vez que caminamos por él nos llena de asombro.
Siempre nos recuerda volver a lo que hemos recibido, y retribuir.
